After Azerbaijani forces seized the mountainous enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh and its separatist leaders agreed to stand down, more than 100,000 ethnic Armenians fled over the border to Armenia. Fearing ethnic cleansing, they barely had time to pack before they joined winding queues of cars and trucks.
